Sometimes I like to shake things up a bit and try doing something new or different. Just for fun, just because I can and sometimes just to see what it is like! Doing this can give you new insights as you see things differently or see different things!
The other week I did my 3 mile run in the opposite direction and I got this idea for a post while I was running. Now nothing on that route had changed, but suddenly the old up hills had become easy downhill slopes! Parts that were easy before now were hard, in fact everything had been changed right around. I got to peep in through open gate ways and see some lovely gardens, which were usually blocked from view when running the other way. I like this as other peoples gardens can be so inspiring and the run seemed a lot quicker as my mind was kept busy processing it all! As I said before, in reality nothing had changed but because I was looking at things a different way – everything had changed. This got me thinking……
A few years ago I was struggling to come to terms with somethings that had happened to me in my childhood and adolescence. I had to find a new way to look at this as it was destroying my peace of mind and life had become a struggle. It was making me ill having to cart this unprocessed baggage around with me. I had to find a new perspective, a new way of looking at things. This way had to be one that I could live with, move forward with, so I could begin to build my life back together. I sought help and slowly and painfully, I came out the other side, a saner and stronger version of myself. In reality my past still remained the same, the bad things had still happened, except that because of new understandings, I was able view things in a different way and more importantly, one which I could live with.
On a lighter note, I believed that broad beans were horrid and bitter. I decided to try them again but with an open mind only to find that I love them!!
Is there something in your life that could benefit from being viewed from a new angle? It is good to challenge some of your long held beliefs about something. Remember a belief is just a thought that you think over and over again. Maybe it is not true? Maybe it is.
